We also know that seeing us all the time might not be ideal for your schedule and that there are some things you can do in between our routine maintenance visits.

Changing the Air Filter

Changing an Air filter is easy enough to do on your own, all you need to locate is the HVAC vent. You can pick up an air filter from any home improvement store, all you need to know are the measurements. Our Heath’s Air experts recommend changing checking and changing your air conditioning filter at least once a month. Especially during the peak seasons.

Insulate and Air-Seal Rooms

This an easy way to save money during winter or summer. Ensure that your windows and doors are sealed, preventing air from coming in or going out. First, you want to check and see if any of your sealants are cracked or worn, if they are then it’s time to change them. For windows and doors, you can use weather sealant, foam tape, or you can re-caulk them. For simple and quick fixes you use door snakes, hand insulated curtains, and use window film. All of the items can also be picked up at your local hardware store.

Maintain Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Ensuring that both your smoke and carbon monoxide are working is a big one because if you don’t maintain your them, it could be deadly. An easy way to check is by using the test button on them often and changing the batteries regularly.

Keep the Area Around HVAC Unit Clear

Depending on where your air conditioning and heating system is settled, you want to be sure that you do not block any vents or put items to close to them. If there is junk piled near either of the units, it can cause it to overheat which can lead to a breakdown. Also if any items are blocking the vents, it could lead to poor ventilation which could cause carbon monoxide to leak into the home.
